Rehobeth Beach, Delaware was dog-friendly and full of kind and gentle people who fell in love with Jack. We walked day and night on the boardwalk, which for Jack was a safe enough distance from the ocean. Jack developed a fan club whose members would shout a greeting when they saw us at different places in town. As usual, Jack was fond of all the attention and curious about the people we met. He retrieved and gave objects to so many strangers.

Jack was the first service dog many people had seen - particularly restaurant, hotel and shop proprietors. We were allowed admittance everywhere, sometimes after first being refused. We see our public travels as an opportunity to educate people about the law and about how service dogs (of all statures) help people with disabilities. Because Jack is so small and I am not obviously disabled, we strive to be a model service-dog and handler team so that everyone who sees us learns that service dogs act with the utmost composure and professionalism when they work.
